When visiting a foreign country, it’s always nice to bring back a souvenir that reminds you of your trip and the I Don’t Go Across The River Shirt but in fact I love this experiences you had there. Here are some practical souvenir ideas to consider: Remember to be mindful of local customs and laws when purchasing souvenirs. It’s also important to be aware of any restrictions on importing certain items back into your home country. I no longer buy souvenirs for anyone back home unless they specifically ask for something to bring back. For instance, my brother asked for a native blow gun when I visited the Amazon jungle. Many people ask for macadamia nuts when I go to Hawaii. Otherwise I can think of two reasons not to bring anything back for others. One, what would be of any significance to someone who has not visited the place I had seen? And, two, what sort of gifts do they bring me back from their vacations? I am so happy to share my photos with my friends and family (usually on Facebook) and often tell stories about some of my experiences. Conversely I love looking at other folk’s pictures and hearing their brief stories about amusing or surprising incidents on their travels.
