Whenever I visit a new place I like to collect postcards, key rings and fridge magnets as mementos. In fact I have several albums full of postcards now, of places I have visited in both the U.K. and abroad. I also have a big collection of fridge magnets, but there are too many of them to put on the fridge; in fact they are kept in a big cardboard box in the loft. My key rings are displayed on strings on the walls of the stairs, but now there are so many that they just hang in big clumps. I do not therefore have such a big collection of T-shirts, because I have never been into collecting them in the same way. However as my wife is from the Philippines and I have visited the Philippines several times I have purchased T shirts from there, whenever I have visited a different destination, or when I have remained in Manila (because in the Shoemart stores in the shopping malls in Manila you can buy T-shirts which have emblems on them of other places in the Philippines). I do not kept too many of these T-shirts here now, most of which were in children’s sizes, because I have given then to members of my wife’s family. Of the T-shirts I still have, I suppose my two favourites are from Hard Rock Cafes, one from Reykjavik, Iceland featuring the Leif Eriksson design as shown above and the other from Florence, Italy, similar to but not the same as the above, featuring Michaelangelo’s statue of David.
